Things You'd Like to Improve On?
Uhm...so...I know how we all sing, but what are things you'd like to personally improve on as you get better as a singer?
For me, I have a slow mouth.
>_< So, I can't sing fast songs.
I mean I can't keep up to ANY off vocal even with lyrics ahead.
I can memorize the lyrics, and sing them perfectly fine but at a different(most time slower) tempo. dslfksjf.
(or that may mean that I can't control my vocal cords the way I want them...meh).
So how about you guys? (x
Let's share tips and all the other stuff ~

Re: Things You'd Like to Improve On?
Mm... For me, I'd like to try and improve my vocal range. I want to be able to do low notes more easily...
What I would recommend to you when singing/learning fast songs, is that you just keep playing the on vocal and singing along with it. When singing the off vocal, if you happen to make mistakes here and there, ignore them first and continue; you can get back to them later. When the song has ended, go back and identify your mistakes. From there, you can refer to the on vocal for correction.
I honestly don't think that your vocal cords have anything to do with your problem. You're probably just not used to the speed of the song.
I wrote a lot....

well, for me, I want to connect my voice to high notes easily.
and, I want to hit the notes with precision.
then, I want more power to my voice.
there,that's my three wishes.

For connecting your voice to high notes, do you mean using your falsetto?

Re: Things You'd Like to Improve On?
Wow.. there's actually a topic like this! Sweet.. ^^
Well, as for me I want to improve singing on time and on key,
sometimes (or whenever I sing with the off vocals)
I sing some notes flat or sharp, I mean.. uhh (Gosh! how do I explain this.. *panics*)
I think I'm deaf to my own voice, whenever I'm recording together with the off vocal
I find it on key and somewhat okay,
but when it comes to mixing, there's something wrong at some parts..
>> i hope you guys know what i'm saying.. gosh! I totally fail at explaining.. =_= <<
Another thing is my pitch control,
someone said that I have a very good pitching, especially if i'm reaching high notes
but i'm not really good at controlling and balancing them..
okay.. so, as I'm really stupid and a noob
I also want to know many things about singing.. =.=
I mean, I dont even know Vibrato?, Falsetto? and the like..
(Yeah! I know, I fail terribly like that, but whatever.. I enjoy singing 8'D -shotdead-)

You're understandable (Is there such a word? o.o)
Um... What I do when I sing a song is that during the learning (the song) process, I try to get everything right before I sing the off vocal. I think this stops me from continuously singing the wrong thing eg sharps, flats, rhythm.
I'm not sure how to explain vibrato to you but I can kinda explain falsetto.
Uh... You know when you sing in your 'speaking' voice, it will get to a pont as you're singing high notes when you feel like your voice is able to 'break'? Any note that you sing above your 'breaking point' is in your falsetto range already.
Hope you can understand

WOW.. MASTAH!!
(you're like singing Guru.. ^^v)
Thank You for the advice..
Yeah, I do that too (singing with the on vocal first, then go with the off vocals)
I just cant do good with the off vocals I guess, *sigh*
Re: Things You'd Like to Improve On?
ah, this topic.. i think i'd like to improve on a lower range, and a more serious tone.
i get told a lot i'm suited to cute, happy songs, but i prefer more serious ones, and i'd like to be able to fit that.
i'd also like to be able to fit to piano songs, as well. ww

Re: Things You'd Like to Improve On?
As for me...
It's simply...
Better timing!
Especially when I record while listening to other version of the song (which is like, ALWAYS).
I have a bad habit to be torn between listening to the music and singing (like how K-ON's Yui always forgot to sing when she plays her guitar, or vice versa).
I can do half-raps/fast-lyrics quite well (not the hardcore rap), and yeah, that helps me conceal my bad timing quite much, which I'm quite happy about.
I also hope my nose can get a bit less sniffy, because well, it always is sniffy somehow.. although it doesn't really show when I'm singing, especially when in Japanese.
After that, I also hope to be able to sing in my original language better...
I've been singing in Japanese for like ten years, no kidding. And I seriously sing Japanese songs a lot more than the ones in my original language, for music-flavor matter.
Everytime I sing in my language, my Japanese accent got to me , yet it doesn't show when I'm singing in English. I suspect this is because my language and Japanese have quite many similar sounds so it kinds of switch me automatically to Japanese accent when singing.. *facepalm*
