La Cantarella was a poison used in REALLY olden times (most known by some Pope. weird right?), so there is no real record of its contents. Although, it's said to have tiny tiny doses of arsenic (this awesome poison used A LOT in the Renaissance time to gain inheritance from the old people, bc it wasn't traceable back then) or cantharidin (some poison made from beetles). (I like arsenic better. Something just creeps me out about the beetle thing.) Believe it or not, it can maybe cause ummm... a feeling of lust (?) in small doses, because it only has a TINY TINY SMALL bit of the lethal poison!
Honestly, I believe it just kills you, not puts you to sleep. I think it would just kill people slowly by damaging their insides before death. Because the regular arsenic poison(on purpose) would probably kill really fast!
Fun Fact!: Arsenic poisoning can happen gradually and people can be exposed to it through well water and other foods (prob only in China though)!

Well, the sleep thing is just my opinion. I don't think anyone really knows because we don't know what's inside it.
Well, I'm not to sure if it's sweet, because there are no other known ingredients besides maybe arsenic and cantharidin. It might be sweet! But Arsenic is a metalloid, so it would probably have a metallic taste. If it had cantharidin instead, there might be more of a chance it's sweet because it is another type of -oid (can't remember -_-) that is responsible for the scent of cinnamon or something like that. The cantharidin made from the beetle and flies, I don't know because the insects give it to their mates after um.....mating(?).
